so last night in a game at Alliston, for the Niagara Whalers Jr.A HC I received a direct shot straight to the left side of my face at a speed of 70mph. All I can remember from the incident is falling to my knees and a trying to speak for help and my mouth guard coming out in a pile of blood..
The damage was actually on the inside as it ripped a whole open in it, After going to hospital, I had well over 50 internal stitches put inside the mouth sewing it all back together as it was deep laceration, 2 small cuts glued up on the outside of the cheek and x-rays show a tiny fracture in the lower left part of the jaw.
Thankfully other than losing 1-2 pints of blood, I didn’t lose any teeth, so on that part I am very lucky! the photo’s don’t actually do any justice, but they give a bit of an idea.
I would like to thank the support of my teammates, coach and trainer for the help, as well as a big thank you to the 4 doctors that did the stitches and gluing for the 2/3 hours I was in hospital, I am well on the way to being fixed now, not sure when i’ll be back in the line up, hopefully either tomorrow or sunday!
